The Into The Galaxy duology is just that… a two book series.
From being the seed of an idea, (and a mad dash to write down the idea before it faded), to the day of publication, three long years of work will have passed. Yes, I did create other things during this time, but the primary fuel to my creative engine has been spent here. Reactors at full ride. A new world, new galaxy, and a whole new place in your head to get lost. I sure hope you like it as much as I liked writing it.
The world sees the portals as an invasion. For Lysa, they're an invitation.
The portals appeared without warning. Every thirteen minutes they take a thousand humans, leaving exact duplicates in their place. Now, chaos reigns and no one is sure anyone is still the person they knew. Whoever is sending the portals has destroyed human society without firing a shot.
I won’t put the blurb to the second book on this page. No spoilers. Let’s leave that one a surprise.
"YA Science Fiction with Incredible World-Building and Wonderful Characters"
"If you're looking for a well written book, buy this one. Give it to someone. Read it - and review it if possible. You'll be glad you did!"
"I look forward to every new Ann Christy novel with great anticipation, and Christy hits it out of the park with Portals. The first book in the duology is sweeping in its scope and delivered with the author’s customary sharp intelligence and trademark humor. Intrepid heroine Lysa is just trying to get through another day in high school AP Calculus when her phone starts vibrating and things get weird. Could this really be “the dumbest invasion ever”? The sense of dread builds, and Lysa makes an impetuous decision that could affect the fate of humanity. The story rockets forward from that point and builds to a late-night page-turning climax. Portals is beautiful and profound and a commentary on what makes the universe go round. I just purchased Portals: Saving Earth, and can’t wait to see how this all plays out."
"Ann, you have a special gift. As a 69 year old man, it might be unusual for me to appreciate a story from a young girl’s perspective. For the last 3 years, trying hard to retire and giving up reading for work and finally reading again for fun, I have read a SciFi book probably each week. This story is unlike any I have read. It had great SciFi stuff, far better than most, but you give an insight to the characters that made me feel I really knew them. Although they were far from my temperament, your story made me smile each page at seeing their wonder of what is possible and maybe the way the universe should be. Now, to Portals II. Keep up the fantastic work."
"Wonderful book! There is nothing at all about this story that I didn't love. As always, Ann's characters are varied and distinctly individual. Lysa is a realistic teenager, albeit a very smart one, facing a unique situation. I've got to say, though, I think the alien characters are terrific. Really, how can you not love someone named Drives Too Hard. There are several tales within the overall plot that give depth to the characters. Hub's story alone is pretty amazing, and there are others. A lot of work went into this book, and the result is a complex and fascinating story set in an intriguing universe. Read and be entertained. Highly recommended!"
